City of Milwaukee employees are divided into the following four groups:
General City employees are those employed by the City of Milwaukee or its participating City agencies.
Police officers are those employed in the Milwaukee Police Department whose duties are to preserve peace and good order in the City of Milwaukee.
Firefighters are those employed in the Milwaukee Fire Department whose duties are to extinguish fires and to protect property and life.
Elected officials are those who are elected through the public voting process to represent the residents of the City of Milwaukee.
